"Money is energy. It flows where we give it direction. When we learn to guide it with intention, not fear, we begin designing a life that reflects our deepest values. Like the breath, money is most powerful when it is conscious."
Founder, MoneyYogi & Money Holistics
I grew up in a house where money was the most stressful thing in the room.
So I've spent my life learning how to make it peaceful.
I am Joshua Humada. I built MoneyYogi and Money Holistics because the help my family needed when we were stressed about money did not exist.

01 / Where I come from
Texas, a loving family, and a constant low hum of money stress.
I grew up in Texas, born into a family that loved each other. My parents did everything they could to give me and my brother and sister a life they never had. They gave every ounce of effort to be good parents and to raise good kids. By that measure they succeeded.
But money was a constant source of stress in our house, and in most of my friends houses around us. It led to arguments. It led to sacrifices. It sat underneath ordinary days and made them heavier than they needed to be.
I was the entrepreneurial kid in all of that. Selling candy to other kids, reselling whatever I could get my hands on, always looking for a way to turn a little into more. I could not sit still.
02 / 2008
Then it all came apart.
The economy collapsed. Shortly after, my parents filed for bankruptcy and our house was foreclosed on.
They had done everything they knew how to do. They sought guidance in the ways they knew how. And yet, the financial industry failed them.
What I understood later is that nobody was offering them what they actually needed. They did not need to hear about buying an insurance policy, getting a better rewards credit card or picking a hot stock. They needed their entire financial life rebuilt from the ground up, and there was nothing out there, at least nothing an ordinary family would ever find, that did that.
The older I got the more I realized how common this type of money story plays out. The vast majority of people in America live paycheck to paycheck and are struggling deeply.
03 / The fire
I was fifteen when I decided what I was going to do with my life.
I truly believe that every person on this planet has a purpose in others' lives and that every event does not happen by accident. That is my philosophy in everything, so I have no regrets or judgement about anything. In fact, I accept, to the best of my ability, everything that has happened as a necessary cadence of events to get to this moment, where I am. I wanted to learn everything I could about money. How it works, how it moves, how to manage it, how to get out from under it. Not just so I could fix my own situation, but so I could hand the same knowledge to other people one day.
That decision has driven every choice I have made since.
I began going to seminars and reading every book I could find on money, success, and mindset. I learned from every guru and teacher I came across, soaking up whatever they had to offer.
I was often the youngest person in the room at those seminars and training workshops. I took that as an opportunity, not a disadvantage, and I absorbed as much as I could from the older, more successful people around me.
04 / The training ground
I went and learned it from the inside.
2011 to 2016
Discount Tire
It was my first real job working as a customer service coordinator while I put myself through school, with long shifts, interacting with real people, and learning how to make a paycheck stretch.
It taught me great work ethic and was a foundational step in building it. It taught me how to always keep 100% of your focus on the experience of the person you're serving, not on yourself. It kept me humble and I will forever be grateful for this experience.
2013 to 2016
Stephen F. Austin State University
Bachelor of Business Administration in finance, with an emphasis in portfolio management. I graduated with a strong GPA and came out fired up, ready to help people with their money. I became treasurer and eventually president of my fraternity, learning to manage a chapter of over 40 college students with little to no alumni help and no adult supervision. What my fraternity taught me, along with my first career, is how to deal with people and build strong relationships. What my formal education taught me while I was there was how to learn the markets, mathematics, and analysis.
What none of it taught me was the physical experience of what to say when I was sitting across a kitchen table with a dear client.
2016
Northwestern Mutual
My introduction to the industry, and to how it actually works. I learned how to sit with people, ask hard questions, and get people in front of me so I could actually help them. I learned grit. Working on 100% commission only and learning to call continued those lessons. One of the most fundamental lessons I have ever learned is that your network, the relationships you have, and the people around you are the most important things in your life.
This is also where I began to understand the financial industry and the type of people you are incentivized and encouraged to go after. They did not look like the people I was trying to help, and mentors willing to help me take on that work were few and far between.
2016 to 2022
Edward Jones
This is where I learned the bulk of my experience in the financial planning industry. I spent six months in training in an after-college program in St. Louis, immersing myself in the business every single day. My job was to find as many people as I could to help who fit the profile of what we were looking for. I spent my years knocking on thousands of doors in front of people who had far more money than the average person, large accounts, huge incomes coming in, and many people who had already won. I had the chance to study these people, their mindset, their habits, and how they managed their money without even realizing it. I was running a successful branch office in Columbus, Texas, and got to help hundreds of families.
Despite the success in that position, something still felt missing. I was not building things the way I thought they should be done, and I was not following my own intuition for how to best give my gift to the world.

Money Holistics
In 2022, after a long internal struggle, I followed my intuition to start my own company, even if it meant losing everything and starting from zero. I kept doing the one-on-one work with families and individuals, but on my own terms and in my own style. I built Money Holistics, from scratch, stitching together the best tools and the most cutting-edge technology I could find in the industry, all serving one purpose: helping the people I wanted to help, with no restriction on who that could be or how it was done.
The leap of faith paid off. It became one of the best decisions I ever made, and it gave me more growth than anything I had endured in my life. Still to this day, I love this part of my job the most: working with people one-on-one and hearing the countless stories of where people come from and how they got there.

MoneyYogi
MoneyYogi was my attempt to embed the process of building awareness around money into technology. Most people lack awareness, so they don't understand where they are, how they got there, or what is actually happening with their money. MoneyYogi was the missing link.
The way I was helping people seemed a bit different from what most were doing: I helped bridge the gap in the unknown about where they actually stood. I built the technology to build this awareness, so someone can understand how they're actually doing and get a launching point to manifest a better situation.
05 / What I learned from people with money
The difference was never intelligence. It was awareness, an open mind, and discipline.
Along my journey, I still question everything I think I know. I remain a student above all, learning constantly and constantly failing, while recognizing that there is so much to know and so much we don't know.
This mentality helps in your journey with your money. It makes you realize that just because something has been done a certain way for a long time, just because your family did something a certain way, or just because the world does something a certain way, it doesn't mean you have to. You don't have to stand amongst the crowd.
The more people I spent time with who were financially successful, the clearer it got. They were not smarter, and they were not working harder. They just had systems they relied on: repeatable systems, a set of beliefs about money that most people are never taught in schools, and they learned to give their gift in whatever way looked best to them. In turn, that brought back more.
Everything I know and everything I learned, I credit to the people along my path: those I was open to and willing to learn from, who had the patience to teach me things I did not know. I also credit it to following my own intuition.
06 / What I believe
Five things I am certain about.
Money touches everything
It serves as the energy that helps you design the life you want. When it is a mess, nothing else in your life gets to be fully calm.
Money habits get passed down
If you inherited baggage and never unpack it, you hand it to the next person. That is how the same story repeats in a family for three generations.
Good intentions are not a plan
Most people operate without a system. You can want it badly and still go nowhere, because wanting is not a structure.
Consistency and simplicity beat overwhelm
Every time. A plain system you actually run will outperform a sophisticated one you abandon a few weeks later.
You have to start at the roots
You cannot get an orange off an apple tree. Change your beliefs about money, then your behaviors, and only then do the results change.
07 / How I think about it
Your financial life is like a tree.

Most people spend their whole lives pulling at the fruit. Different results come from somewhere much lower down.
- Fruit
Your results
What is in your accounts, what you owe, what you own, how much room you have to breathe. This is what everyone tries to fix first, and it is the last thing that moves.
- Trunk
Your actions and behaviors
How your beliefs show up in daily decisions. What you spend on, what you avoid, what you check, what you refuse to look at, your money strategies, and every action in between.
- Roots
Your beliefs and your foundation
What you were taught about money, what you were told, what you absorbed from the house you grew up in, and why you operate the way you do. Change starts here or it does not last.
You cannot get an orange from an apple tree. If you want different fruit, you go to the roots.
08 / Why MoneyYogi exists
The help my parents needed, built as a money platform.
MoneyYogi and the 1:1 help I offer people now is what I would have handed my mom and dad in 2007. A calm, clear picture of everything. A system that runs whether or not you feel motivated. Someone who will actually sit down and rebuild it with you instead of selling you something.
It is deliberately simple. Not because the work is simple, but because overwhelm is the thing that stops people, and I am not willing to be one more app that adds to it.
